Rules of Engagement / Client Care Letter

As Barristers-at-law we are obliged to provide clients with certain information about the way that their professional business is undertaken. Please find detailed below our standard terms and conditions, which set out the basis upon which Perez/Rodriguez (“Perez/Rodriguez”) will carry out the work on your behalf.

General

Perez/Rodriguez is the legal practice of the Honourable John Brian Perez LL.B and Stuart J. Rodriguez LL.B, M.A. and is a firm of Barristers-at-law and Acting Solicitors. Our contact details are: HLB Perez/Rodriguez, Barristers-at-law, Gibro House, 4 Giro’s Passage, Gibraltar. Telephone +350 76222 Fax: +350 71423. www.gibro.com e-mail: stuart@gibro.com

We are regulated by the Bar Council of Gibraltar.

If you have any queries or complaints about the way in which your work is being handled, please contact the fee earner dealing with your work in the first instance, or if for any reason you want to take the matter further, you can contact Perez/Rodriguez’s principal Stuart J. Rodriguez.

We try to avoid changing the person dealing with your work mid-stream. If we have to do that, we will try to make sure you know as soon as possible, and let you know the reason for the change (and whether it has any effect on your charges). We will only allocate someone to your work who is appropriately trained and experienced in that work.Where the person dealing with your work is a non-lawyer we will notify you of the status of the fee earner and experience in carrying out the work.

Costs

We charge on a time-spent basis, this is based on hourly fees of between £100.00-£250.00 depending on the seniority and experience of the Lawyer/ fee earner involved and the complexity, urgency and importance of the work, in which case the estimate will be based on a specified number of hours of work and, where appropriate, a specified precedent fee for using our precedents. Our charges include advising you, attending to you, dealing with documents, correspondence etc.

Sometimes we will deal with a matter for you on a fixed fee basis, and we will provide an estimate of the costs involved. We will try to let you know as the matter progresses whether this estimate needs to be revised. This will happen if, for example, the scope of the initial work changes, or any complications arise. You will of course be advised of any changes to this.
